A full bathroom remodel in Central Florida usually runs somewhere around $15,000 to $20,000, but that is the middle, not a ceiling. The honest range starts near $7,000 for a basic refresh and climbs past $70,000 for a high end spa. What you want the room to do drives the cost far more than how big the room is.

So what is a bathroom remodel really going to cost?
It depends on the finishes, but here is a working map. A light refresh lands around $6,000 to $7,000. A typical full remodel sits near $15,000 to $20,000. A true luxury bathroom can run many times that.
A refresh is the low end because nothing really moves. You swap fixtures for fixtures, keep the existing floor, put a tub back where a tub was, retile the walls, repaint, and drop in a new vanity and sink. Most full baths in this area share about the same footprint too, roughly ten feet by ten, so square footage is rarely the thing that swings the number. The finishes are. The difference between a builder grade faucet and a made to order vanity shows up fast, and it shows up again in the tile you choose. Location plays in as well. Our Central Florida hard water spots a cheap faucet in no time, so the finishes that shrug it off tend to cost a little more.
Why is the price range so wide?
Because a bathroom can be almost anything, from a bare bones rental fix to a spa you never want to leave. Same four walls, wildly different build.
On the low end are rentals and flips that just need to work. The tile might be a dollar a square foot, the drain is the most basic one made, and the shower head is whatever does the job. On the high end people are chasing a feeling. They want the niche with a light in it, the LED mirror, the soaking tub, the finishes that carry the whole room.
We once built a bathroom with a chandelier hanging in the shower. It was not gaudy, it was genuinely pretty, and it was a different planet from a rental in both look and price. That is the real reason a single number never fits. The question is not what a bathroom costs, it is what you want yours to do.
Where does the money actually go?
Most of the budget splits across demolition, plumbing, electrical, installation, and materials, in roughly that order. Knowing the pieces makes the total make sense.
Demolition runs about $2,000 to $4,000, and what is behind your tile decides where you land. Newer drywall comes out fast. An older home with block or the hard plaster walls from the 1960s fights back. Plumbing is next. A licensed plumber is around $2,000 for a straightforward job, and reconfiguring adds another $2,000 to $4,000, especially when a shower becomes a tub or a drain has to move and someone opens the slab. Electrical is usually minor in a bathroom, maybe $500 to $1,000.
Then the install itself, setting the tile, the vanity, the toilet, the tub or shower pan, and the glass, lands around $5,000 before you spend a dollar on materials. Materials are wide open. A vanity can be $200 or $2,000. Tile runs anywhere from $1 to $50 a square foot. This is exactly the part a real bathroom remodeling estimate lays out line by line, so you see where every dollar is going before the work starts.
Does a half bath cost half as much as a full bath?
No. A half bath is about half the floor space but closer to a quarter of the work. The size fools people.
The reason is simple. The shower or the tub is where the hard work lives, the complicated plumbing, the fancy tile, the pricier fixtures. A half bath has none of that. It is really a toilet and a vanity, and most people do not even change the floor. So if you are setting a budget, remember that the wet work is the expensive part, and a half bath mostly skips it.
That changes the math. This is also why getting the scope and the budget right before demolition matters so much. We settle all of it first, which is why every project starts with a free design consultation. Decide what the room needs to do, then price it, then build it. It saves the surprise of finding out halfway through that the look you fell for was never in the budget.
