Why does the prep decide the whole floor?
Because the floor is only as flat and stable as what sits under it. Most homes in Central Florida sit on a concrete slab, and slabs move and crack over time. That movement is the thing that ruins tile jobs. A hairline in the slab does not stay in the slab. It travels up into the tile and cracks the grout line or the tile itself, and by then the fix means tearing out finished work.
So the prep comes first, and it takes real time. We check the slab for low spots and high spots, then flatten it, because large format tile will not sit flush over a wavy floor. One corner ends up proud of the next and you feel the lip with your foot. Under large tile we set a crack isolation membrane over the slab. That membrane lets a small slab crack move on its own without telegraphing through to the finished floor.
None of this shows in a photo. It shows years later, when the floor in a Kissimmee or Davenport home still looks the way it did the day it was set. When we handle your kitchen remodeling or the flooring alone, the slab work is where the real difference gets made.
What flooring do you install?
Tile, carpet, hardwood, and LVP flooring. With today’s technology, tile and LVP flooring can be installed in every room. Carpet and hardwood floors are usually reserved for living rooms, bedrooms, and other areas in the house that do not have the worry of a spill.
In most cases, your choice of floor will be affected by your foundation and your location. Do you have a crawlspace? Are you on a concrete slab? Do you have neighbors below you? All of those questions will determine what kind of installation your flooring will need. With the correct underlayment, vapor barriers, concrete boards, or even noise reduction, together we can figure out what works best for your home and your environment.
Another item to remember in your planning is the transition strip. In a home that was not planned carefully before laying the first piece of flooring, you will see many transition strips between different types of floors. Those extra strips come from incorrect planning rather than proper prepping and leveling of the floor. A good remodeler can match the height of a tile surface with a hardwood or LVP floor without a transition strip.
What drives the cost of a flooring project?
Flooring costs depend on the material you choose, the condition of your subfloor, and the complexity of the installation. Every project is measured on site so the written estimate reflects your actual space.

How long does a flooring project take and what are the steps?
It depends on square footage and how much prep the slab needs, but the order of steps is always the same. First is demo. If there is old flooring, it comes out, and any old tile bonded to the slab gets ground back so the surface is clean.
Then prep and level. We flatten the low spots, patch what needs patching, and set the crack isolation membrane where large tile is going. Next is layout. Before any tile is bonded down, we dry the pattern and find the lines so the cuts fall in sensible places and the room reads square. Then we set. Then grout goes in once the setting material has had time to grab.
After grout comes trim and the transitions between rooms. And then cure time, which is the part people want to rush and should not. Grout and thinset need time before the floor takes furniture and full traffic, and walking a floor too early is how you loosen it. We tell you up front how many days that cure runs so you can plan around it. A single wet area moves fast.
What materials and looks can you choose?
Plenty, and the choices change how the room feels more than most people expect. Large format tile is popular right now because fewer grout lines make a floor look bigger and calmer, and a big open living area reads as one clean surface instead of a grid. It also asks more of the slab, which loops back to the prep.
Wood look plank gives you the warmth of a wood floor with the toughness tile brings to Florida living. It comes in wide boards and narrow, in lighter and darker tones, and it lets you get the look of oak or walnut in a room where real wood would not last against moisture and sand.
Then there is pattern. A straight lay is quiet and clean. Herringbone turns the floor into a feature and works well in an entry or a defined space. Grout color is the choice people underrate. Match the grout close to the tile and the floor reads as one field with the seams disappearing. Go with a contrasting grout and every tile stands on its own and the pattern pops.
